Did the lost continent of Atlantis really exist or is it nothing but a legend? Evidence, along with psychics Edgar Cayce and Sylvia Browne, suggest Atlantis was real.

There are many myths and legends regarding the so-called lost continent of Atlantis. While some researchers today believe it did exist, controversy continues to flow over where Atlantis was located. It is largely due to Plato that some people consider the possibility that Atlantis really did exist at all.

Plato's Timaeus and Critias Writings on Atlantis

One of the main reasons that the existence of Atlantis is considered is due to Plato's writings. In both Timaeus and the unfinished sequel, Critias, Plato tells of a huge island where the occupants opposed the earliest Athens. Passed down to Plato over time, the story was first told to Solon, an Athenian legislator, by an elderly priest named 'Senchis the Saite."

According to Plato's writings, Atlantis was located in front of the Pillars of Hercules which marked the entrance to the Atlantic Ocean. It's said that this utopia was destroyed by floods and earthquakes sometime between 9570 and 8570 BC. Although some think that Plato's pieces are nothing more than philosophical writings, it's interesting to note that Timaeus contains much scientific and astronomical information.

Edgar Cayce and Atlantis Rising

According to famed psychic Edgar Cayce, who was known for the accuracy of his medical diagnoses and treatments he received while in a trance-like state, Atlantis was supposed to begin to rise in either 1968 or 1969 off the islands of the Bahamas and Caribbean.

Although it doesn't seem like this prophecy came true, a discovery known as the Bimini Road occurred during this time frame. Some argue that this road is merely a form of beach rock found in the area while others argue that this underwater road was artificially constructed and was actually part of an ancient civilization.

Sylvia Browne and Atlantis

World-renowned psychic Sylvia Browne says that Atlantis was a very technologically advanced civilization.

In what most refer to as ancient times, it's said that Atlanteans had computers, sky cars, and nuclear-powered vehicles. According to Browne, it was Atlantis' own advanced technology that destroyed the continent due to earlier experiments involving electromagnetic energy.

Evidence to Support the Existence of Atlantis

In 1970, Dr. Ray Brown, along with four other divers, explored an underwater pyramid off the Bahamas. They found roads, domes, and of particular interest, a statue holding a crystal. (It is believed by some that one of the main power sources of Atlantis was energy harnessed from crystals.) When analyzed, it was found that the crystal amplified energy which passed through it.

In 1977, a different pyramid was found in the Bahamas off Cay Sal. What makes this possible evidence for the existence of Atlantis is that the surrounding water was mysteriously lit by sparkling white water coming out of the opening in the pyramid.

A Soviet exploration led by Boris Astura discovered an ancient city about four hundreds miles off Portugal. The buildings were made of concrete and plastic and it appears as if monorails once ran there due to the remains of the streets.

These are just a few pieces of evidence to support the theory that Atlantis really existed. There is much more evidence out there. Was Atlantis real or is it just a myth? Obviously underwater findings show there are ancient civilizations that are not yet identifiable. Could any of the above be Atlantis? The possibility certainly does exist. Not until more exploration and research are done will the answer be known for sure.

The solution to the Atlantis problem is actually rather straightforward. It was a supervolcanic island off Portugal that exploded and sank in the 17th century BC. There is of course nothing left to find of it except a colossal caldera plainly evident on the seafloor (See Roots of Cataclysm:Geopulsation and the Atlantis Supervolcano in History).

Where did you find the story of this expedition, because it really doesn't sound believable to me. I was almost expecting it to say they recovered some bodies or something, like they supposedly did with alien bodies (like the supposed alien autopsy that most people believe was staged). It was believable up until the energy-amplifying crystal part, but that's just seems a little far fetched to me.

The crystal part is possible.we use crystals in all computers today. Every computer chip is made from crystal. Wether Atlantis existed or not, Believe it or not people, there is much of our history that we have forgotten
