When beginning to plan a home spa party, a fun idea is to come up with a name for your at home spa. Be sure to include the name on your invitations along with the appointment time, (time the party starts.) To make it as realistic as possible, ask guests to bring along their robes and slippers.
At Home Spa Party
Set the mood for an afternoon or evening of relaxation and pampering. Choose a room that will become the spa. Good colors to use for decorations are pastels. Set out some fresh flowers and candles. Next, it's time to set up the stations. Set up a station for each of the following:
- manicures
- pedicures
- facials
- hair
- makeup
- final touches
For the manicure station, have some emery boards, several colors of nail polish and nail art. Here, girls can paint and decorate each other's nails. Need ideas on nail polish? Further information can be found in the article The Best Nail Polish – Where to Buy Nail Polish Online.
At the pedicure station, provide some type of a foot bath. Fill it with very warm water and add a small amount of a pretty smelling essential oil. Be sure there are clean towels available for drying the feet. As a final touch, have foot cream available.
Let guests kick back and relax while having a facial. Have facial packets and slices of cucumbers for the eyes at this station. Keep some fresh towels by the sink for guests after they rinse their faces. At the hair station, girls can create new hairstyles for each other. Provide ponytail holders, barrettes and bobby pins.
The station with the most items needed is the makeup station. Here there should be several shades of eye shadow, along with eyeliner, mascara, foundation, blush, powder and several choices of lipstick. Depending on the age of the girls, they can either do each other's makeup, or have adults do it for them.
The last station is for final touches. Set out some body sprays, hair decorations, body glitter, hand lotion and hairspray. To keep costs down, many of the items needed can be found at dollar type stores. As guests first arrive, take a before picture. Once they finish at the final touches station, take an after picture. This is a fun way for friends to have a keepsake of their transformations.
Spa Party for Girls
Although typical party food consists of items such as pizza, hot dogs and hamburgers, for this type of party it's better to stick with a healthier menu, including finger foods. Set up a buffet so partygoers can grab something to eat whenever they get hungry. A suggested menu consists of:
- finger sandwiches
- stuffed deviled eggs
- miniature muffins
- fruit skewers
- fresh vegetables and ranch dressing
- fruit flavored yogurt
- crackers and cheese
Don't forget about beverages and desserts. Beverages should also be healthy. Think in terms of some sort of fruit beverage. As far as desserts go, stick with the finger food idea and serve cookies or miniature cupcakes.
Spa Party Games
When planning a kid's spa party, some type of games should be included. Have a model photo contest. Once everyone has been transformed, assign each guest an emotion. Emotions that can be assigned include:
- happy
- sad
- excited
- surprised
- scared
- tired
- worried
- confused
- sleepy
- lazy
- sneaky
- shy
Take photos of each girl performing her emotion. Let everyone vote on who has the best photo representing the emotion. If possible, give a prize to the winner. Another idea is a variation on musical chairs. Set different bottles of nail polish on a table. Instead of removing the chair each round, remove a bottle of nail polish. Once again, a prize for the person who grabs the last bottle of nail polish would be welcomed.
Girls Spa Party
At the end of the party, give each guest a goodie bag. Suggested items to be included are samples of fragrances, lotions, a tube of lipstick, along with scented room spray, eye masks or any kind of beauty product.
A spa party should be all about fun and relaxation. Let girls pamper themselves through activities including manicures, pedicures and makeovers, while including healthy food and fun games and activities.
