Find out about California Six Flags' amusement parks including Magic Mountain, Hurricane Harbor and Discovery Kingdom.

Fans of Six Flags will be happy to know that California is home to three of their parks. Northern California features Discovery Kingdom, while Southern California is the location for Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor, a water ride park.

Six Flags Vallejo

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the city of Vallejo, is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Many animals and marine life await guests for live interaction and entertaining shows including Celebrate Shouka – Killer Whale Show, Merlin's Island Party – Dolphin Show and Extreme Wilderness Show.

Thrill seekers will be at the edge of their seats with fun coasters like Medusa and Kong. Family favorite rides include Thrilla Gorilla and The Ark. Three areas are devoted to younger children including the Looney Tunes Seaport. Formerly known as Marine World, Discovery Kingdom combines the worlds of marine and wildlife with the excitement of an amusement park.

Six Flags Magic Mountain California

The city of Valencia is the location of Six Flags' southern California park known as Magic Mountain. The park recently reclaimed its bragging rights to being the "Coaster Capital of the World." With eighteen roller coasters, coaster fanatics will have no lack of exciting thrills.

Although coasters are the main focus, there are several family rides available including the Buccaneer, which is a swing type ride aboard a pirate ship run amok. Younger children will find plenty to keep them busy in Bugs Bunny World, which has rides including Foghorn Leghorn's Barn and Railway, along with Yosemite Sam's Flight School. With both Discovery Kingdom and Magic Mountain, several rides have minimum height requirements. If traveling with young children, it's best to check ahead to see which rides they are tall enough for.

Hurricane Harbor California

Park enthusiasts can escape the heat of Southern California at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Also located in Valencia, this twenty two acre water park hosts the two tallest, fully enclosed waterslides in Southern California. They can be found in Black Snake Summit.

Like its neighbor Magic Mountain, Hurricane Harbor has its fair share of thrill rides for water enthusiasts. If something more relaxing is preferred, guests can hang out at the wave pool or relax while floating along a lazy river on River Cruise. Designed especially for kids is Mr. Six's Splash Island. Younger children can enjoy several water play platforms, kid sized waterslides and rain curtains.

With two themed amusement parks and one waterpark, fans of Six Flags will have plenty to do in California to keep busy. If traveling to southern California, many other wonderful amusement parks await. Further information can be found in the article Theme Parks In Southern California.
