Is it possible to talk to and communicate with ghosts? There are those who claim to talk to the dead by telephone shortly after the person has died.

Imagine it's a quiet evening. Earlier in the day a funeral was attended of a beloved family member. Suddenly, the telephone rings. Upon answering the telephone, the voice of the deceased loved one is on the other end. Sound like the opening of a scary science fiction movie? According to some people, phone calls from the dead are real.

Spirit Communication

While many people believe there is some form of life after death, it can become quite unnerving to receive a phone call from a dead loved one. Phone calls from the dead generally take place within 24 hours of a person's passing. The voice on the phone, although recognizable, is often a bit garbled. Usually the phone calls are quick and end abruptly.

Why do spirits make phone calls? Many times it's in an attempt to say goodbye. Other times it's to get an important message across. From time to time these calls are used to warn someone of danger. They also take place around birthdays and holidays.

It's interesting to note that phone calls from the dead not only come in on land lines, but, on cell phones as well. There are occasions when cell phones will light up and ring with a call from a deceased spirit, even when the cell phone isn't turned on.

Phone Calls From the Dead

Different theories exist to explain this phenomena. One explanation is that spirits are able to manipulate energy and really do make the phone calls. Another explanation is that these calls are hallucinations and the actual phone call is unknowingly manipulated by the person receiving the call through psychokinesis, which is the ability to move objects with the mind.

Skeptics theorize that these occurrences are purely fantasy and that the person receiving the call is so overcome by grief, they temporarily can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy.

After Death Communication

Is it really possible to communicate with spirits who have crossed over? Mediums claim to do it all the time. Scientific studies have produced a large amount of evidence that spirit communication is possible.

Logically, for a spirit to try to make contact with a person via a telephone makes sense as people are used to telephones as communication devices. It can also be a lot less unsettling for many people to only hear the voice of the deceased loved one, rather than see a full-blown apparition.

Can spirits really communicate with loved ones through the telephone? For those who have experienced this curious phenomena, the calls are real and provide a way to say a final goodbye to someone who has passed on.

This is so true! I actually received two txt messages after a friend passed. The weird thing is this was in 1999 before I had text messaging. It was a new phone but texting was not activated. One on my birthday, one on my son's. The messages meant something only to me and that person.

I never believed this before until my dad had passed in 2002 and after coming home from the funeral the phone rang and it was
him. I nearly dropped the phone but tried to keep my composure.
I believed it was his way of saying goodbye. The call was static
and he sounded like he was in a far away place. All he said was,
"don't worry about me..I am fine. I love you! Then I heard the dial tone.

Its true. I got a cell phone call from my Mom about one year after her death. There was a lot of static. In her voice, she said " good bye" pause " John ". The number used was an actual number. I called it back. A man said it was his cell no. but he had not made the call.
Just last week I had a call from 000 000 0000. The line was blank. These calls come when I was in the house where she passed away. She has been dead since 2005. I hope to hear from her again.

Both myself and my dad got call around the same time on the day after my grandpa died. It was quite for a long time. I would normal hang up almost straight away but i didn't and then he said goodbye. We where both in different houses and I am sure my grandpa didn't know my land-line. He also wouldn't have know that my dad was staying at his house instead my mine that night.

My wife had an experience yesterday,,,,and me,,,,she walked in to the house with a strange look on her face,,,her cell was picking up voices/conversations,,,,and she was not on the phone,,,,then we turned it off,,,,,,voices still coming out of the phone,,,,,not till we turned it off did it stop,,,,,,,,CROSS SIGNALS OR,,,SPIRITS???

I believe this is true. My cell phone is being possessed by a spirit that died in the house. When my cell is in the house or 1/2 a mile from the house it is completely dead. It will not charge at my house. It will charge and work fine everywhere else.The spirit has called a friend of my from my cell phone 2 times and left voice messages both times. We can not make out a lot of what is being said because it is so full of static. The messages have both been saved and we are looking for help to figure out what is being said.

It also happen to our family my suster passed away and know her phone is ringing just her phone on the phone is hers voice but the whole time she just said Its Thersia who speaking hold on fot her I don't understand can't she just tell us whats bothering?

We have had to occurances of my Mother contacting family members using cells phones.
My Mother passed March 5, 2009 from pancreatic cancer. She had a the best passing we could have for her. She was in a lovely Hospice home and was able to go peacefully.

In July 2011 my cousins husband got three phone calls on his cell phone, he could hear someone talking but it was so faint he couldn't make out what they were saying. After each call the phone number was not a number but the words "Anna Pape calling home". This happened three time in a matter of hours then didn't happen again.
We had our family reunion a few weeks later so I am guessing she was contacting us to let us know she like the idea of the this large event. It was our first one that we had invited so many family members.

Today, September 16, 2011 I got a call from my younger Sister.
My Sister put her cell phone on her dresser before she went to bed last night like she does each night. This morning when she picked up her phone she noticed her phones wallpaper had changed from the sunflower picture she has had forever to the picture of Mom's tombstone that is in her phones photos.

Mom had a cell phone and was very good at using it unlike most people over the age of 50 let alone someone in her 80's. She didn't have a land line so she knew how to use her cell phone and it is the same model cell phone that my Sister has.
What should we do now? We know she is trying to contact us. How do go about finding out what she is trying to say to us?

First time happening to me and now i believe in this. - A friend of mine father died about 4 weeks ago. Im living on the other side of the world from where my friend is. At 2am my phone rings (Private number). I heard my friends dog barking and my friend telling her dog to keep quiet. I phoned my friend to ask if she phoned me. She had no credit on her phone so she could not phone me. I told her i heard her dog barking and that she told her dog to keep quiet. She went cold as, how I could have known this should i be on the other side of the world. I have seen spirits before, been attacked by them, thou this is the first time they are now phoning me. Its so wiered and i cant explain it.

Sometime in June 2005, My grandfather had been in the hospital for about 23-25 days.On the died that he passed at 6:00pm i got a phone call i thought it was wrong number i said "hello,hello."finally a man answered he ask for vicente i asked which one because i my grandfather and uncle had the same name.The guy won't give me a answer he just repeated the name.I said who is this the man reply "the family member thats waiting." so i freaked and hung up then at 6:30pm the hospital called and informed me to call my mom and get to the hospital quick because its time to say her last good byes.Ever since that day i wonder from time to time.
