Tarot cards can be a good tool when trying to learn to read cards and develop psychic abilities. Here is some advice on how to do a tarot card reading.

For centuries, Tarot cards have been used for divination. Card readers use them for seeing into the past, accessing information on the present, and taking a glimpse into the future. Here are some simple instructions to help make Tarot card readings easy.

Learning Tarot Cards

Take out the deck and have explanations of the cards ready. If you do not have anything that shows the meaning of the cards, a quick Internet search should do the trick. If a deck has not yet been purchased and help is needed in choosing a deck, information can be found in the article How and Where to Buy a Deck of Tarot Cards.

If doing a self-reading, begin to shuffle the deck. Continue shuffling until it feels right to stop. If doing a reading for someone else, hand that person the deck and have them shuffle the cards. Have the person stop shuffling when the urge hits.

Learning to Make a Simple Tarot Layout

If just beginning to read tarot cards, it's best to start with a simple spread. This spread only involves three cards. Take the top card and place it on the left. Remove the second card and put it next to the first card. Take the third card and place it on the right side.

The left card represents something that has happened in the past. The middle card portrays something that is going on in the present. The right card depicts some kind of future event that will occur. It's now time to find out what each of the cards mean.

Meaning and Interpretation of Tarot Cards

It can be a little overwhelming at first when reading a Tarot spread. Part of doing a reading is interpreting the cards. For example, let's say the justice card has been shown up in a spread. In a spread it can represent impartial judgment, fairness, and balance.

A spiritual interpretation would be that of karma. In reverse, (meaning the card is upside down), it means that the person being read for is suffering from some type of lost or injustice. The reader not only needs to know the meaning of each card, but how to interpret it in a spread.

This is when many Tarot readers allow their intuition to come into play. Besides the general meaning of the cards, readers will pay attention to thoughts that come into their mind while doing the readings. Let's go back to the justice card for a moment.

If it is placed in the pile of a past event and shows up in the reversed order, it would mean that the person being read suffered a loss in the past. Now, let's say the words uncle and money came to mind while reading that card.

It could be interpreted that in the past, the person being read for suffered a financial loss due to that person's uncle. Learning to listen to one's inner voice takes time a practice. Don't worry if it takes awhile to get it.

When beginning to read Tarot cards, use a deck that is easy to read, start with a simple spread, and allow your intuition to interpret the cards. Once comfortable, more elaborate spreads can be attempted whereas the cards not only have individual meanings, but can also be interpreted from where they are located in the spread, along with the meanings of the surrounding cards. In the beginning though, keep it simple and have fun practicing.
