Disney has entertained families for years with its theme parks, movies, and music. It continues to delight families with cruises to exotic locations in different parts of the world. Here is a look at the Disney Cruise Line ships, along with exciting destinations.
Disney Cruise Line Ships
There are currently three ships in the Disney Fleet, with a fourth on the way. Disney Magic is the first luxury ship that was built, followed by the elegant Disney Wonder. The newest ship to the Disney family is the Disney Dream, set for its maiden voyage in 2011. A fourth ship named Disney Fantasy is being added to the fleet.
Disney Cruise Travel Destinations
Two of Disney Cruise Line's most popular travel destinations are the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Three- to five-night Bahamian cruises are offered while six- to ten-night Caribbean cruises are available. These cruises depart from Cape Canaveral, Florida and are pretty much available throughout the year.
All Disney Caribbean and Bahamian cruises make a stop at Castaway Cay for a day of fun at the beach. Castaway Cay is Disney's own private island, so only guests from the ship are allowed. Although it's not mandatory to go ashore, most guests do.
Other destinations departing from Cape Canaveral are the fifteen-night Panama Canal Westbound Cruise and the fourteen-night transatlantic Eastbound Cruise with stops in Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. Unlike cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean, these cruises only set sail once in awhile, so it's best to book early to ensure passage.
Disney Cruise Line is offering several cruises to the Mexican Riviera in 2011 including holiday cruises. These seven-, eight-, and ten-night cruises depart from Los Angeles, California.
Other West Coast cruises include a seven-night Alaska Cruise, which departs and returns to Vancouver, Canada, a six-night Los Angeles to Vancouver Cruise, and a five-night Vancouver to Los Angeles Cruise. These also commence in 2011.
European and Mediterranean Disney Cruises
Disney also offers European tours with seven- to eleven-night Mediterranean cruises, a twelve-night Northern European Capitals Cruise, a seven-night Barcelona to Dover Cruise and a seven-night Dover to Barcelona Cruise. All cruises depart from Barcelona, Spain, with the exception of the Dover to Barcelona Cruise. Limited in 2010, many more cruises are available in 2011.
When looking into a Disney Cruise, be sure to check out sailing dates as far in advance as possible to help in planning the cruise. Also, don't forget to look at the different itineraries that are offered. Between three ships and numerous destinations, just the right cruise can be found.
