When considering girls' party themes, a model party is a great way to get creative, try new things and show off everyone's modeling skills. When sending out invitations, ask each girl to bring some extra clothes that they can share. Also ask them to bring some fun accessories like hats, scarves, shoes and belts. These are the items that will be used when everyone puts on a fashion show.
Models Party
Choose one or two colors for your theme. Keep all decorations with these colors, including balloons. Get some pictures of famous models and put them up in the room the party will be held in. The room should be large enough for a catwalk.
Set up two tables in the room. Put lots of different makeup on one table and include some mirrors. On the other table, set up a variety of hair decorations, brushes and combs, along with mirrors and hairspray. Keep costs down by purchasing them at a dollar type store.
When guests arrive, have them put all of the clothes and accessories they brought on a chair or couch. Ask them to line up the shoes right next to the clothes. Next, it's time for everyone to practice modeling. Give everyone a chance to practice on the catwalk. Be sure they try turning and posing at the end. Once those skills are down, have girls practice facial expressions in front of a mirror. Now it's time for the first competition!
Girls' Theme Party
Bring everyone to the clothes and shoes and set the timer for 60 seconds. That's how long everyone will have to gather up everything needed to put together a complete outfit. Once the time is up, have guests put their high-fashion outfit on.
Keep in mind, in the real world of modeling, clothes and shoes don't always fit. However, the models have to wear them anyway and make them work. Encourage the girls to get creative and find a way to show the outfit. When everyone is dressed, let them have five minutes at the makeup table and five minutes at the hair table. It's now time for everyone to vote on who put together the best look. The winner gets a prize!
The time has now come to put on the show. Play some upbeat background music. One at a time, let each girl strut her stuff down the runway. After everyone is done, it's time for a group photo shoot. Have everyone be serious and high fashion for some of the shots, then fun and silly for some commercial shots.
Fashion Party Ideas
Probably at this point, your guests will be hungry. One thing the TV show America's Next Top Model promotes is healthy eating. Instead of the usual party food, set up a buffet with lots of healthy choices. Some suggested items include:
- sandwich wraps
- fresh fruit bowls
- broccoli with low-calorie ranch dressing
- yogurt
- miniature whole-wheat muffins
- baked tortilla chips with fresh salsa
- wheat crackers with low-fat cheese
- salad
When it comes to dessert, an idea that fits into the theme is to have a cake with the logo from America's Next Top Model on it. Let's face it, even Tyra Banks eats dessert from time to time! While everyone is eating, consider putting an episode of the show on. For a final competition, let the girls race to see who can change out of their model outfits and back into their regular close the quickest. Once again, have a prize for the winner.
